For this assignment I will talk about Peaky Blinders which can be seen in Netflix, BBC One and BBC Two. Let me first confess that I absolutely love this British period crime drama. The story here is set in Birmingham, England and focusses on the Shelby family. The time frame is the post First World War period. This show has an impactful persona as it very nicely captures the essence of that time. Starting from the timelines to the makeup to the costumes and last but not the list the accent is all developed in a way so that it takes the audience back to the that time and era. The characterization of the main actors in the show is exemplary. This is one reason why this show has the ability to both exemplify and challenge genre. The kind of show ‘Peaky Blinders’ is one should hate Thomas Shelby because at the end of the day he is a gangster.
